Interest-free loans to resume from next week for education in private universities

Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the interest-free loan given by the government to 5,000 children to receive education in private universities will be resumed from next week. He said that the related paper will be presented to the Cabinet this week. The State Minister expressed these views while participating in a ceremony at Ruwanwella Rajasinghe College. Under the programme, the students will be entitled to an interest-free loan of 900,000 rupees and they will also be given a grace period of two years to re-pay. The Minister underscored that education is the best investment in a country and the government will give priority to education even in challenging times.
