Entry to the Dehiwala Zoological Garden will be free of charge for children from the 23rd to the 25th of December. The Department of National Zoological Gardens said in addition to children, senior citizens will also be allowed to enter the Dehiwala Zoo free of charge on the 24th of December.
An exhibition and several events have been organized between the 23rd and 25th of December, especially to educate students. The Dehiwala Zoo houses approximately 2,500 to 3,000 species of animals and promotes conservation by breeding certain rare and endangered species through proper animal welfare.
