President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasizes that he will never allow violence and anarchy to prevail under the guise of human rights.
He added that if any party engages in such an attempt, the security forces would be used to suppress it completely. The President delivering a special statement in Parliament yesterday also emphasised that everyone from the lower officer of the army to the rank of field marshal is obligated to fulfill their responsibility.
The President also referred about the expenditure of the army and said the allocations for the military cannot be reduced in 24 hours. The 25,000 employees serving in the Army cannot be put on the road at once and it should be done accordingly. President also stated that the professionals are leaving the country and that the gap can be filled by training our armed forces personnel and sending them to those vacant places.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that he will never allow the government to suppress peoples’ struggles using military power. Addressing the parliament yesterday he said people have freedom to carryout peaceful protests. The Opposition Leader said he will always give his fullest support to such struggles.
