The Government of Malaysia agrees to recruitment of 10,000 workers from Sri Lanka

The Government of Malaysia has agreed to recruitment of 10,000 workers from Sri Lanka. The MOU regarding the process will be sign next month. Malaysian Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan and top level delegates is to visit Sri Lanka soon and they will notify the interested parties about further details in this regard. Malaysian Human Resources Minister said the decision has been taken after taking into account the state of Sri Lanka during the current economic crisis. The Minister has said the Cabinet, at a meeting on September 14, agreed on the hiring of foreign workers to help Sri Lanka, which is facing its worst economic crisis. He had also urged Malaysian industries and employers to support the government’s intention by employing workers from Sri Lanka to fill job vacancies in sectors that are allowed to hire foreign workers.
