Sri Lanka beat India by 6 wickets at the Asia cup 2022 match which was played yesterday at Sharjah Grounds last night. Half-centuries by openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis helped Sri Lanka clinch a six-wicket win in a thrilling Super Four clash. Batted first India scored 173 runs for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 72 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 32 runs. Dilshan Madushanka took 3 wickets. Chamika Karunaratne and Captain Dasun Shanaka took 2 wickets each.
Chasing 174, Sri Lanka got off to a fine start as openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis hit several boundaries and sixes. They helped their side cross 50-run mark in 5.2 overs. Charith Asalanka went to the pavilion with a duck and Danushka Gunathilaka took only 1 run. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Captain Dasun Shanaka brought the Sri Lankan scorecard to the winning score with a fabulous partnership and smart cricketing. Sri Lanka is now leading the points table at the Super 04 stage. Sri Lanka is only one step ahead to reach the finals and India is now hanging on a thread to reach the finals.
