Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse has instructed officials to prepare a methodology to pay compensation from Agrahara Insurance fund for public servants under treatment at homes for covid 19. The Prime Minister gave the instructions during a discussion with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna trade unions and joint trade union federation representatives at the Temple Trees. The Prime Minister as then finance minister has taken steps to implement Agrahara compensation payment system in budget proposals 2021 for public servants under treatment at hospitals and who die due to the infection. The trade union representatives said that public service should be made efficient. The Prime Minister pointed out that the efficiency and productivity of the public service should be improved and the officials should take necessary steps. Prime Minister Rajapakse said that local and foreign training opportunities for public service should be increased to achieve the aim. The trade union representatives expressed their views on getting back the pension denied by the good governance government. The Prime Minister immediately instructed the secretary to the ministry of public administration about the issue. Discussions were also held on increasing pensions in comparison with the increase cost of living.
