The construction work of lower Malwathu Oya reservoir has commenced

The construction work of lower Malwathu Oya reservoir has commenced yesterday under the patronage of Minister Chamal Rajapaksa. This project will solve the water problem in Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Mannar districts. The ceremony to mark the commencement of the project will be held at Thanthirimale. The lower Malwathu Oya reservoir will be built at Bogoda area. When compared to the water capacity, the lower Malwathu Oya project is the 3rd largest water project in Sri Lanka. 22,900 million rupees will be spent in this project. 35,280 acres will be able to cultivate for two harvesting seasons after the completion of this project.
