The ‘new year ‘Nakath Seettuwa’ has been issued.

The ‘Nakath Seettuwa’ which includes Sinhala and Hindu New Year auspicious times has been issued. However, Secretary to the Ministry of Buddha Sasana , Culture and Religious Affairs M. K. Bandula Harischandra says that the public should excise caution when performing new year rituals due to the present situation. He has requested the public to conduct New Year traditions only with family members while staying at homes. Meanwhile the government has decided to cancel the Vesak festival. The Secretary has requested the Buddhist community to observe religious practices at homes and not to invite outsiders for such activities.
People are urged to strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines in order to prevent further spread of novel coronavirus within the country.
