MP Dilum Amunugama says the government considers it a foremost task to provide relief to the people who were repressed badly in the past four-and-a-half years. Speaking to the media in Kandy today, he also said that it would be better to form a new government with a majority rather than functioning as a minority government. The parliamentarian accused the United National Party of not allowing that to happen.

He went on to say the UNP was suffering from election-phobia and would not extend the two-thirds parliamentary majority support that is required to go for a general election. MP Amunugama said the massive amounts of public money swindled during the previous regime would be restored legally. He added that there would be no arrests under false accusations as had been done during that administration
